Jade's First Surfing Lesson

There is a really sweet girl in our ward that is teaching Jade how to surf and even gave him the board that he used in his first lesson. Christine said that she was impressed that Jade was able to stand on the board three times and ride the wave in. She said most people can't even stand up on it once on their first day. Surf's up!

Swimming

For Father's Day, I made Justin a small scrapbook that had pictures of him and the kids in it. I took the pictures of him and the kids at the pool, which we have been trying to do a lot lately because it is so hot.

Softball

Sierra was bummed about there being no kickball here so she joined the closet thing, fastpitch softball. The first year she had a little trouble but this year she really did a great job. Both years she has played catcher and another position. She really loves playing catcher and does a great job.

March 2006

In March, Sierra and the rest of the school performed at a Spring Sing. The third graders performed a few Cher songs and wore tye dyed shirts. They did a great job and looked really cute. We also went to a San Diego Gulls hockey game. It wasn't quite as exciting as the Rayz games are back in Corpus but we still had a good time.

February 2006

In February, my brother-in-law graduated from 'A' school in the Coast Guard. We went up to San Francisco for his graduation and to see a few of the sites. Sierra and Taryn began dance class. Sierra started jazz and Taryn began beginners ballet and Jazz. We also went on a whale watching tour which was quite cold. Brrrrr.

January 2006

We did quite a few things in January. Sierra basically had a field trip every month and this month was a trip to Legoland. Justin got to go with her and it is hard to say who had more fun. Justin and I got to go to a very fun play. It was called Joey and Maria's Wedding and the audience was also the guests at the wedding. They really got all of us involved and we just couldn't stop laughing. We also got to attend the Family Literacy Foundation event where Gloria Estefan was reading her children's book to the kids. Every person there received a signed copy of her book. They had a lot of things for the kids to do and we all had a great time.

Justin in the Coast Guard

So far Justin has received three LOCs. He is doing well in the Coast Guard and is currently on the list for advancement. He does plan on making a career of the Coast Guard. We will be up for a transfer December of 2008 but Justin is planning on trying to get an extension so the kids can finish out the school year. I think he looks very handsome in his uniform.

Lacrosse

Jade got quite the workout while practicing for lacrosse this year. They ran about 20 miles a week. It is new to all of us so it is taking us awhile to learn all the rules. He totally loves it and can't wait to start again next year.

Our Family

Well, as most of you know, we are living in sunny Claifornia. It has been an eventful year and a half and we have been able to do a lot of really cool things. We really miss everyone back home but we try to stay really busy. Jade started playing lacrosse and totally loves it and Sierra plays softball and is doing really well with it. Taryn will be starting kinder this year, my last one. Hmmmm, what will I do will all my free time? Scrapbook, of course!
